an African alphabet 

More than one alphabet can be found in this book. In one picture alphabet there is one drawing for each letter – mostly everyday objects arranged  to form the letters they illustrate. Another picture alphabet continues a word alphabet: the drawings are in pairs, the number of pairs for each letter vary, as do the lines of the word alphabet. Letters based on African designs form borders that are part of each drawing.
